Video shows naked student before he’s shot

(AP) — Video of the fatal shooting of a naked Alabama college student shows him with his arms outstretched and his palms open seconds before a campus police officer fired. Police said Collar had taken LSD and was acting aggressively, but an attorney for Collar’s family said the video shows his actions didn’t justify the shooting. Beasley said his chief investigator and one of his lawyers, a former police officer, were shown the tape Wednesday by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department. The video shows the 5-foot-7, 140-pound student never got closer to the officer than 4 feet and didn’t try to grab his weapon, Beasley contended. Beasley said the officer was not carrying a baton or pepper spray, even though university officials have said officers typically carry both in addition to a gun. [...] I think he was looking for help, Beasley said. Beasley said his law firm will complete its investigation before the family makes a decision about whether to sue the university, but the family’s ultimate goal is to make sure policies are in place to prevent the same thing from happening to another student.   Original post on seattlepi.com    Comments on reddit.com

After the guilty verdict, three other women took the stand in the sentencing phase to talk about their alleged attacks over a four-month period in late 2010 and early 2011.
